Replace black (grey) with color (colorize) in Photoshop

I just spent some time making black (grey scaled) icon into a blue one and here’s by far the easiest way to do it in the Photoshop:

Open the original image and change mode to RGB (Image->Mode->RGB)
Image->Adjustments->Hue/Saturation
Click on “Colorize” checkbox
At this point the image will still be black and white (grey)
Make sure that “preview” box is checked
Start by increasing “Lightness” you will immediately see color changing from b/w to blue
Play with other 2 dials (hue & saturation) to get you to the desired color

Tame that “Buzz”

One thing that annoys me about new Google “Buzz” service is that it dumps lots of stuff into my Inbox. Here’s quick way to filter it out until Google comes back to its senses:

Open any of buzz messages in your Inbox
Pick “Filter messages like this” from “More Actions” button/link on top-right portion of message window
The form will open. Type “Buzz from” including quotes into Subject field. Or you can use label:buzz
Click “Test Search” you should see your buzz messages only
Click “Next Step”
Put check-mark into “Skip Inbox”
Optionally you can assign label to this filter. You won’t be able to pick “buzz” but you can use something like “whadabuzz” or anything else
Optionally select “Also apply filter to N conversations below”.
Click “Create Filter”.
Return to Inbox. Buzz messages should be gone

5 min before all the new goodies from Apple will be announced. Whatever it will be I think any news will hit Android hard. With what seems to be a sluggish sales from “Nexus One” Google (read Android) can suffer some setbacks due to massive interest to new Apple gadgetry. Do I mind? Not at all – I think this what keeps it all interesting

This morning I drove to my office following directions from my Android phone which runs Google Navigation add on to Google Maps. Simply incredible! And free. If you are using iPhone you are already behind the curve. I am sooo sorry….
