DroidIn – first response

Well, well, well… I’m getting first somewhat chilling response for the DroidIn on the Android market. Since I cannot discuss it there let me answer some of the concerns here, but first. What is DroidIn and is it a “native” Android app? Here’s response and a single star from Tom:

Well, first and foremost – DroidIn is a “native” app. It includes a fair amount of Java code but is indeed a combination of JavaScript/XHTMl and Java processing. I love Android platform that it actually allows me as a developer to call Java code directly from JS and back. Given that LinkedIn ignored my requests to get access to their OpenSocial container I had a very little choice but to go after their web content for this app.

Excellent idea, but app is shakey and GUI can improve. Look forward to a more stable release. Do someQA on the app please.

Yes, oh yes. This is fresh from the oven. Plus, lite version contains embedded Google Adsense JS which actually adds significantly to the processing. Paid version feels and should be faster and more reliable with less timeouts. And indeed this is only a beginning I’ll make it better and prettier. As for look-and-feel I was going after their familiar colors but if things go right I may consider getting professional help on this

Not very good right now. Can’t access messages or groups so pretty much useless. Will keep installed for a couple of weeks and hope for an update.

Indeed – groups are the first thing I’m looking into right now. Messaging will be tougher. App does have a limited ability to send messages though
